Shift: 2nd Shift - 4:15pm- 1am
Monday-Friday, some Saturdays- Daily Overtime is scheduled and shift can run until 3am.
Hourly Rate: $18.25 an hour
Position: Forklift & Sequencing Trainer – Sit-down Forklift Experience Required
Location: Lafayette, IN
Job Description: This position is responsible for the training (forklift and sequencing) of new hires in a variety or warehouse tasks, including but not limited to picking (sequencing), replenishing (forklift) and cycle counts of inventory with the handling of racks or containers throughout the day. The position requires teaching at the highest level of accuracy due to customer expectations. You will also be responsible for assisting in supervising the assigned team and locations, as well as performing various warehouse tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with new team members in Dojo (forklift training) during New Hire Orientation, walk through explaining first piece verification.
- Confident with taking new team members on tour of facility.
- In practice area, work with team members and show how things are to be done, explaining the importance of following standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Communicate with team leader on the line that the new team member will be starting on.
- Explain the productivity and accuracy expectations.
- Explain the proper use of PPE and supply the team member with what is needed for the job they will be trained on.
- Assist team leader in monitoring and correcting all new hires. Report to team leader if further training is required.
- Work with team members when they are having a hard time and making mistakes. Then complete a new re-evaluation sheet.
- Explain the importance of maintaining a clean and safe work area utilizing the principles of 5S.
- Explain our facilities Safety Program (Training, Hiyari Hatto reporting, Risk Assessment, Observation of Safety policies of the company and facility).
- Expected to participate in team meetings.
- Expected to participate in company recycling program.
- Assist team leaders in monitoring the use of Standard Operating Procedures for new hires by continuous monitoring and correcting. Report to team leader if further training may be required.
- Perform audits and maintaining the FMDS Safety board.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED.
- Comfortable with computers, especially Microsoft Excel is a plus.
- Must have good writing and speaking skills.
- Experience in a warehouse environment is a plus.
- Previous forklift experience.
- Must be detailed orientated.
- Must professionally represent our company.
- Must be able to life 50 lbs.
