Job Posting: Slitter Set-Up Operator
Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm-10pm
Pay: $18+/hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
The Slitter Set-Up Operator assists in operating slitting and related production equipment to cut continuous lengths of material to precise widths and surface requirements. This position ensures that all production meets customer and company specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review production schedules and work orders to plan upcoming jobs.
- Communicate job requirements clearly with other team members at the slitter machine.
- Identify and report inaccuracies in schedules or issues during setup and production.
- Assist in correcting setup problems and verify machine setups before each job.
- Load coils onto machine uncoiler, inspect incoming materials, and feed material through the slitter knives.
- Operate machine controls, align materials, and monitor operations for quality and accuracy.
- Stop operations if defects or safety issues arise, and restock materials as needed.
- Remove and transport finished slit coils to weighing and packaging stations.
- Assist with banding, tagging, and packaging coils for shipment as required.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Track and maintain inventory of knives and rubbers for sharpening and replacement.
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, inventory tags, and measuring tools.
- Working knowledge of micrometers, tape measures, bar mics, and related inspection tools.
- Skilled in operating forklifts, jib cranes, coil cars, and small equipment.
- Familiar with basic computer applications related to slitter production.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to interrupt operations when necessary for safety.
- Ability to lift and maneuver materials as required.
