Garrett-Kaiser-Butler Maintenance Technician
Hours: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
Pay:$17-$20 per hour depending on knowledge
Essential Job Duties:
This position will perform skilled mechanical and electrical work on HVAC equipment, hot water boilers, commercial kitchen equipment, lighting, and related facility equipment. Plumbing repairs, in-house construction projects, snow removal, operating motorized equipment, as well as working with inspectors and contractors, will also be performed. Large repairs are contracted out. Training available for those with strong work ethic, good attitude and strong mechanical abilities.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
Hours may occasionally be subject to change to meet the needs of the school corporation. This position is subject to being on-call with emergency call back. Personal Protection Equipment will be required to be worn, based on the job being performed.
Minimum Experience/Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated possession of the skills necessary to perform the work.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of operation of boilers, chillers, pumps and HVAC equipment would be helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of working with facility electrical equipment such as; breaker panels, starters/contactors, transformers, ballasts, relays and motors would be helpful but not required. Use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with DDC controls and some form of Building Automation System.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and work off of ladders/lifts.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and the general public.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training
Experience installing electrical circuits, conduit, light fixtures a plus. Reading blueprints, schematics, line diagrams. Ability to maintain and repair plumbing related systems to include air, natural gas, water and sewer. HVAC Universal certification. Welding and drywall repair.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications:
Valid driver’s license required. Successful applicant will be required to submit to our insurance provider’s review of their driving record and receive a satisfactory result.
