Job Description

Pro Resources is seeking a Sales Engineer for a client in Fort Wayne, IN. The Sales Engineer will have strong technical and commercial experience in the fluid power industry, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motion control, and related systems. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new opportunities, supporting customers with application expertise, and promoting engineered solutions that improve system performance and reliability. Compensation 
  • Compensation is from 80,000 USD to 150,000 per year + Commission
Job Duties
  • Sales & Business Development
    • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow territory revenue across OEM, distributor, and end-user accounts.
    • Identify new business opportunities for hydraulic and pneumatic components, systems, and custom solutions.
    • Manage the full sales cycle—from lead generation and technical discovery to proposal development, quoting, and closing.
    • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurate forecasts.
  •  Technical Expertise & Application Support
    • Provide hands-on technical support for hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, valves, cylinders, pumps, motors, actuators, power units, and related systems.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to specify components and design integrated fluid power solutions.
    • Conduct on-site assessments, troubleshooting, and product demonstrations.
    • Prepare technical presentations, system recommendations, and value-added proposals.
  •  Customer Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM engineers, buyers, maintenance teams, and distributors.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor focused on solving customer challenges and improving system efficiency.
    • Provide training, seminars, and product knowledge sessions for customers and channel partners.
  •  Internal Collaboration
     
    • Coordinate with engineering, customer service, and operations teams to ensure timely project execution and customer satisfaction.
    • Communicate customer needs, market trends, and competitive insights to leadership.
Background Profile
  • Required
    • 3–7+ years of sales, applications engineering, or technical support experience in fluid power, hydraulics, or industrial motion control.
    • Strong understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, schematics, and component selection.
    • Experience working with OEMs, distributors, or industrial end-users.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer-facing skills.
    • Ability to travel (typically 50-60%).
  •  Preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
    • Prior experience specifying or selling hydraulic cylinders, valves, power units, pumps, motors, hose & fittings, or related products.
    • Familiarity with CAD drawings, ERP systems, and CRM tools.
