Machine Operator
Role Purpose
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment used in the manufacture of air filters, including but not limited to laminators, sealing, and cutting machines. This role ensures that all operations meet established safety, quality, and throughput standards.
Responsibilities
The Machine Operator sets up machines at the start of each shift and during all size changes, runs all filters produced on the assigned line, and checks product quality in accordance with standards established by the lead and supervisor. This position owns line performance, including output, quality, and uptime, while maintaining accuracy of all production data recorded on the production board and PDC. The operator is also responsible for keeping production processes compliant with the Quality Policy and maintaining adherence to safety, environmental, housekeeping, and 5S standards. Additional duties include troubleshooting machine issues or promptly notifying the lead for maintenance support, performing in-process quality checks as filters move through the line, assisting with minor machine adjustments to maintain steady production flow, and communicating material shortages or equipment issues to the lead or supervisor. At the end of each shift, the Machine Operator ensures that the work area is clean and organized.
Physical & Work Conditions
The position requires regular walking, standing, and sitting—67% or more of the time—and constant visual attention throughout the shift.
Reporting & Interactions
The Machine Operator reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and interacts regularly with the Shift Supervisor, Production Lead, Operations Manager, and Human Resources.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Candidates should possess knowledge of equipment settings and basic start-up functions. Essential skills include excellent verbal and written communication, strong teamwork and attention to detail, physical strength and stamina for prolonged standing and lifting, and a high level of commitment, creativity, and goal orientation.
