The Line Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of assigned production lines, ensuring daily production targets are met while maintaining quality standards. This role involves overseeing the activities of line associates, conducting regular checks, maintaining accurate production records, training new team members, and making necessary adjustments to the line to optimize performance.
Responsibilities:
Line Oversight and Management: Oversee the running of up to three or more production lines simultaneously, adapting to daily production needs and priorities. Ensure smooth and continuous operation of all assigned lines.
Hourly Line Checks: Conduct regular hourly checks on each assigned production line to monitor performance, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards.
Paperwork and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork related to production, including quality checks, downtime logs, and material usage. Ensure all required forms and records are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
Work Log Updates: Regularly update all work logs with relevant production data, including output, downtime, quality issues, and any adjustments made to the lines.
Associate Training: Train new production associates on line operations, safety procedures, quality standards, and job-specific tasks. Ensure new team members are properly onboarded and proficient in their roles.
Achieving Production Rates: Take ownership and responsibility for ensuring that each assigned production line meets or exceeds daily production targets. Monitor output and proactively address any factors that may hinder achieving these goals.
Reporting to Production Manager: Provide regular updates to the Production Manager on line performance, production output, any challenges encountered, and the status of training and other relevant activities.
Line Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to the production lines on a daily and hourly basis to optimize efficiency, troubleshoot issues, accommodate material changes, or meet specific production requirements. This may involve adjusting machine settings, workflow, or staffing as needed.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve minor production issues and escalate more complex problems to the appropriate personnel (e.g., maintenance, quality).
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all line operations are conducted in a safe manner and that all associates adhere to safety policies and procedures. Promote a safe working environment.
Communication and Teamwork: Effectively communicate with line associates, other supervisors, and support departments to ensure smooth production flow and resolve any issues collaboratively.
