Lab Technician - Heat Treat

ProResources is currently seeking a day shift Lab Technician - Heat Treat for a manufacturer in Fremont, IN.
Shift and Compensation
-Day shift, 6: 00am-6: 00pm
-$15.50 / Hourly
-Pay could go up depending on experience
-All Heat Treat personnel are tasked with maintaining and reviewing a controlled process
-Laboratory technicians are considered senior lead positions as the individuals tasked with end result quality inspection are the final step in quality confidence
-Tasks performed by laboratory technicians include but are not limited to the following:
-Lot inspection: Lot inspection includes hardness testing methods HRC/H15N/tensile/micro of steel fasteners. To limit error and discrepancy, the laboratory technicians retrieve their own samples from the lot. Pending results and conformance requirements, the laboratory technician shall make an educated decision on releasing a lot for further processing based on a regimented sampling plan
-Lot release- Laboratory technicians by use of symix shall move product lots through the heat treat process and laboratory step
-Random Floor Review- As a senior lead the laboratory technician is to randomly review and monitor controls of one or more furnace lines. This allows a second set of eyes to perform inspection of a tightly controlled system and is paramount to the success of the division.
-Ability to read and understand control equipment, such as carbon controller, at periodic intervals to ensure specified temperatures, soak out and cooling rates are maintained
-Adjust equipment parameters as necessary. I.E. While processing carbonized product groups, should parts not meet the requirements it is the responsibility of laboratory staff to personally test and adjust the furnace environment through use of tools such as 3-gas analyzer, dew point, and carbon controller process factor
-Make recommendations for process productivity improvement as necessary
-Cross-task communication and assist maintenance with furnace testing as necessary, I.E. Furnace atmosphere control and failure prevention
-Promote an environment of team work and learning by helping individuals both new and senior on how to effectively heat treat product
-Keep laboratory area neat and organized as to afford a level of discipline and control over their main work area (5S)
-All personnel are to follow all operational and safety protocols however the laboratory technicians are to lead by example and aide in the enforcement of safety actions
