Utility Operator – Kendallville (3rd Shift)
Pay: $25.25/hr + $1.55/hr shift premium
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (6:30–6:30) on a 3-2-2 rotation. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and mandatory overtime.
Job Summary:
Operate and support printing presses and folder gluers that convert paperboard into consumer packaging. This role is responsible for safe, efficient production, quality checks, machine setup, and basic maintenance while meeting production and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform make-ready tasks, install plates, wash blankets, and verify job specs.
- Start/stop and adjust press settings (speed, ink, tension, temperature).
- Load and position paperboard; splice rolls as needed.
- Inspect product for print and color quality; remove defects.
- Palletize finished goods and enter production/scrap data.
- Use hand tools; assist with preventative maintenance and cleaning.
- Move materials via pallet jack, hand cart, crane, or forklift (license required).
- Follow safety practices, housekeeping standards, and team expectations.
Requirements:
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be able to pass a physical assessment, drug screen, and paid background check.
- Ability to stand long periods and perform repetitive movements.
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally / 30 lbs frequently.
- Comfortable with tools, computer entry, and working in varying temperatures.
- Must be able to distinguish colors accurately.
