Job Title: Slitter Operator
Pay: $23 per hour
Second shift 2:00PM-10:00PM
Position Summary:
The Slitter Operator operates slitting machines to slit continuous material to specified widths and meet customer specifications. This role includes machine setup, material inspection, quality checks, and ensuring efficient and safe machine operation.
Essential Duties:
Review production schedules and work orders to determine job requirements.
Set up and operate the slitting machine, loading coils and monitoring material flow.
Perform quality checks on slits, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
Report defects, obtain approval for necessary corrections, and document approvals.
Record production data and track delays such as maintenance, set up, and quality issues.
Communicate with team members to maintain workflow and ensure accurate product labeling.
Observe safety protocols, report hazards, and assist in housekeeping and maintenance duties.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of slitting machine operation and related equipment.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and quality standards.
Skilled in measuring tools such as micrometers and tape measures and equipment including forklifts and jib cranes.
Strong focus on safety, quality, and minimizing material waste.
Basic math and problem solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry materials and work with mechanical parts.
Visual acuity to identify material defects and measure product quality.
Work Environment:
Work near moving machinery with some exposure to fumes, vibration, and humid conditions.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with relevant experience or training preferred.
Additional Information:
This position involves coordinating team activities, maintaining workflow, and ensuring high quality standards. The Slitter Operator may also assist in training new operators and supporting other team roles.
