1st Shift Forklift Operator – Production
Hours: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday – Friday
Pay Rate: $17.92 per hour
A privately held industrial manufacturing company based in Bluffton, specializing in precision metal stamping and steel component production. Founded in 1946, the company has grown into a long-standing supplier serving major manufacturing sectors.
Summary:
Operate a forklift to load/unload trucks and move materials throughout storage and the production floor safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport materials (pallets, coils, boxes, etc.) to designated areas
- Load/unload trucks while ensuring load safety and stability
- Perform daily forklift inspections and basic maintenance (battery checks, cleanliness, reporting issues)
- Verify material labels and ensure proper identification and placement
- Support production by supplying materials, stocking presses, and preparing containers for the next shift
- Handle materials manually when needed (lift, push, pull up to 90 lbs)
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental policies
- Stop production if safety or quality issues arise and report immediately
- Complete required documentation accurately
Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass forklift certification and pre-employment drug screening
- Good physical condition (lifting, bending, climbing, etc.)
- Strong hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
- Basic math skills and ability to use measurement tools (or learn)
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Knowledge of safety standards (including GHS)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing setting with loud noise, moving equipment, and variable temperatures
- Use of required safety equipment at all times
