Job Title: Mailroom Presort Technician
Job Summary
The Mailroom Presort Technician is responsible for preparing outgoing mail for efficient processing and delivery by accurately sorting, presorting, and processing mail according to USPS regulations and company standards. This role ensures mail is handled securely, accurately, and cost-effectively while maintaining productivity and quality goals.
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Hours may adjust once training is completed)
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, presort, and organize incoming and outgoing mail according to USPS and internal guidelines (will be trained on postal rules and regulations and the presorting process)
- Operate mail processing equipment such as inserters, sorters, postage meters, and scanners
- Verify addresses, postage, barcodes, and mail class to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Bundle, tray, sleeve, or palletize mail for shipment or postal pickup
- Track mail volumes and complete required documentation and logs
- Identify and resolve mail quality issues, such as mis-sorts or damaged pieces
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow company policies, security procedures, and confidentiality requirements
- Meet daily production, accuracy, and turnaround-time targets
- Assist with general mailroom duties as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced and somewhat stressful environment
- Ability to read, follow instructions, and perform repetitive tasks accurately
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Excel
