Pay - $22.00
Monday - Thursday 6am-4pm
Friday overtime 6am-Noon if needed
POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain and organize the work flow and producing product in the Lathe area of Machining department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Studies blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
· Runs lathe machining center, including but not limited to, prepping parts, loading parts, starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machining controls, and unloading parts.
· Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measure.
· Provide Technical guidance as needed
· Assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and new processes.
· Work with Plant Superintendent to identify areas of Continuous Improvement.
· Operate forklift to move and organize product.
· Assure machining area is kept organized.
· Other tasks and duties as assigned.
· Maintain compliance with all work rules (productivity, conduct, safety, etc.).
JOB IMPACT
The Lathe CNC Machinist position has a direct and significant impact on the day to day operations of the machining department. A primary focus of this position is the value creation made possible by overall organization and production of product in the lathe machining area. This requires the alignment of organization and overall pride in the work. While the value creation for an organization involves a network of relationships between internal and possible external environments, the organization and output of product through the machining areas plays an important role in improving the overall value chain of an organization.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
· High School diploma or equivalent
· 5 + years of CNC turning and programming.
DESIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- Able to program Mazak lathes
- Must be able to live and demonstrate the Wirco Corporate Values
- Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
- Ability to read OD / ID micrometer
- Indicate parts with 4 jaw chuck
- Clausing lathe knowledge a plus
- Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
- Able to follow oral instructions promptly and accurately
- Must be able to listen attentively and use speaking skills to ask questions or to clarify tasks.
- Must be able to convey oral instructions to other team members
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Able to prioritize tasks and follow through to completion.
- Time Management is a must in organizing work and finishing tasks on schedule.
- Must be a reliable / strong Team player
