Northeast Indiana Works, Inc. (NEINW) provides oversight and management to WorkOne Career Centers and delivers employment and training services to job seeker and employer customers in the eleven-county region. The Business Services Team promotes the development of skilled workforce to meet the labor needs of employers and encourages their use of WorkOne’s services and programs. The team delivers direct services to employers while servicing as their liaison to the WorkOne Center. The business services representative is responsible for promoting WorkOne services to employers in Steuben, Dekalb and Lagrange counties.

Job Duties
- Promote the NEINW and WorkOne Northeast vision, mission, objectives, programs and services through effective presentations to public groups, partners, local elected officials, and employers
- Partner with local economic development professionals, local elected officials and company management teams on business attraction, retention and expansion initiatives.
- Provide labor market information, workforce skills availability, and WorkOne services.
- Recommend and assist in the development of new business services and workforce development tools to advance business-driven systems through research, program development, coordination and processes implementation.
- Collect business intelligence from employers in the region and other major contributors to the regional economy. Works with center manager and business services management to assess business needs, and deliver workforce training resources (i.e., work experience programs, recruitment and retention strategies, and customized training, etc.) to contribute to the regional strategic plans.
- Manage specific employer-focused programs/grants including organizing, planning, securing approval of program expenditures and/or validating eligibility qualifications to ensure compliance with program guidelines, policies and documentation requirements.
- Monitor specifically-assigned employer-focused grant outcomes and expenditures against program budgets/targets including but not limited to business services activities, work based learning activities (e.g. on-the-job training, work experiences, etc.) and other grant expenditures.
- Compose monthly reporting and work with center manager and business services management to implement corrective action to meet goals
- Troubleshoot issues concerning employer participation in WorkOne Northeast programs - gathering details, interacting with business management, getting input from WorkOne staff, and work with center manager and business services management to provide directives/guidance for issue resolution
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with companies utilizing WorkOne services through follow-up activities, (e.g., communication of new products and services, invitations to relevant events, and follow up meetings) to ensure that WorkOne's services are beneficial and easy to utilize.
- Develop and plan customized hiring events for employers seeking candidates. Work with center staff and/or management to execute the plan.
- Work with employers to establish pre-employment assessment processes to identify skilled candidates.
- Work with employers to develop training plans for workers hired through the work-based learning programs.
- Track and monitor worker attendance and progress throughout the training plan.
- Develop contracts and other administrative documents in support of the work experience process.
- Accurately enters quality service delivery and business information in state and regional case management databases.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Background Profile
- Minimum of three (3) years professional business development or business account management.
- Ability to compile, analyze and evaluate data, make determinations and present findings to employers and/or economic partners.
- Ability to learn and promote NEINW purpose and vision
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite tools and possess internet navigation skills. ?
- Knowledge of business development techniques. ? Knowledge and understanding of workforce issues, economic development strategies, and labor market information in Northeast Indiana.
- Proven experience with maintaining confidential documents and discussions.
- Ability to solve practical problems where limited guidance is available.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions ranging from written, verbal and diagram.
- Ability to work with a variety of people at different levels of an organization.
- Ability to effectively present information to regional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated sound time management and project management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to develop and manage regional workforce development projects.
- Knowledge of various federal and state workforce programs and their purpose.
- Experience in workforce and/or economic development preferred.
