2nd shift Machinist/Machine Operator Position

Pay: 19.40Hours: 2nd shift 2pm to 10 pm(training on 3rd shift 10pm to 6am)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician / Machinist is responsible for machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of machining and laser cutting equipment. This role supports production by ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency while producing cut-to-print parts that meet established SPC, quality, and safety standards. The position requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and set up machines for scheduled production runs, including loading programs, changing tools, and changing work holding devices.Adjust geometry and wear offsets to maintain part quality.Perform first-piece approval and layout inspections using basic metrology equipment.Operate machining and laser cutting equipment to meet production schedules.Provide emergency and scheduled maintenance during production and planned service times.Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, manuals, and equipment documentation.Produce parts that meet established quality standards and SPC requirements.Document repairs, setups, adjustments, changeovers, and preventive maintenance activities.Support production efficiency improvements, including uptime, throughput, and utilization.Comply with OSHA safety rules and company policies.Maintain compliance with TS16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.Be available for overtime and off-shift coverage as needed.Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervision or management.CompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Professional conflict resolution and teamwork Strong organization of tools and work area Self-directed and dependable Excellent attendance and reliability Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required:High school diploma or equivalent Technical training or exposure to manufacturing equipment2+ years of experience with production machinery Basic knowledge of CNC or Swiss lathe operations Basic machine setup experience Ability to read blueprints Basic knowledge of manual measuring toolsPreferred:Machinist experience with Fanuc controls Ability to interpret GD&T tolerances Language & Reasoning Ability Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical documents Ability to plan and execute production schedules Strong visual acuity and attention to detail Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to written, verbal, or diagram instructions Ability to handle problems professionally and in accordance with company policies RSA Daily Task List Operators are responsible for running machines; maintenance is responsible for repairs.Grease all machine fittings, including motor slides, vises, and ball screws.Check all oil levels and refill as needed.Perform all required part inspections.When changing cutting tools, open the machine to 21.5 mm, then slowly adjust tools into cutting position.Measure the saw blade before installation and enter the measurement into the HMI.Cut scrap tubes and place them in the hopper for disposal.Sweep and mop the area around the machine daily.Clean the inside of the machine by removing shavings and debris.Wipe down the machine daily to maintain cleanliness.Additional Information This job description does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed.
