CNC Lathe II Operator 2nd or 3rd Shift
Hours: 2nd 3:48 PM -11:48 PM
             3rd Shift: 10:48 PM – 6:18 AM
Pay Rate: $33.32 (depending on experience could be more)

Our company is a leading manufacturer of industrial linear motion and lifting solutions, serving customers across a wide range of industries. We design and manufacture products including screw jacks, electric actuators, linear motion systems, and lifting equipment used in automation, aerospace, packaging, manufacturing, material handling, and other industrial applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  1. Work to close tolerances (ie. .0002”) 
  2. Machine metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum; 
  3. Inspect parts during production using precision measuring instruments; 
  4. Monitor and maintain machine fluid levels; 
  5. Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements; 
  6. Edit pre-written programs with supervision when necessary; 
  7. Edit program for process improvements and troubleshooting; 
  8. Mount work pieces in chuck, to faceplate, or to fixtures; 
  9. Select and install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or cutters, and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet; 
  10. Observe numerical control displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts; 
  11. Turn dials and switches to override program and correct machine performance; 
  12. Inspect first run piece and spot check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications 
  13. Study job packets and organize materials for next order during cycles to reduce cycle and setup time; 
  14. Pre-set tools before positioning them in lathe; 
  15. Set up and operate another machine tool during machining cycles; 
  16. Set up and operate CNC machines using set-up sheets and written instructions with minimal supervision; 
  17. Utilize all types of inspection instruments to check work per print without supervision; 
  18. Possess knowledge of various cutting tools and has ability to determine various machine speeds and feeds; 
  19. Perform basic equipment maintenance; 
  20. Crosstrain on other plant machinery as required;

Minimum Qualifications: 
  1. Highschool Diploma or GED required. 
  2. 3 years of proven CNC Lathe experience.
  3. Overhead crane experience.  
  4. Sound mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills. 
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  6. Experience using steady rest. 
  7. Able to perform machine set up ( install proper chuck jaws and tooling) 
  8. Ability to understand the majority of assigned setups.
  9. Ability to overcome and adapt to problems not specified on the job setup sheet when encountered. 
  10. Proven understanding of equipment and processes in the area of responsibility. 
  11. Ability to read precision measuring equipment.
  12. Ability to read CNC programs. 
  13. Proven blueprint reading skills, programming knowledge or experience, set-up capabilities, tooling knowledge, understanding of feeds and speeds and gearing terminology. 
  14. Proven knowledge of products.
  15. Proven knowledge of fixturing. 
  16. Ability to inspect work and meet quality requirements. 
  17. Ability to do advanced CNC editing. 
  18. Own basic hand tools at minimum. 
  19. Capable of understanding and following routing information.
  20. Capability of basic layouts at minimum.
  21. Capability of tool sharpening.
  22. Ability to effectively train new operators.
  23. Technical training as required. 
  24. Ability to identify and share process improvement ideas.
  25. Ability to run single block programs.
Physical Requirements: 
  1. Prolonged periods standing. 
  2. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
