1st Shift Saw Operator
Hours: 6:48 a.m.- 3:18 p.m.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join our production team. This role involves operating a variety of machines—including saws, tubes, lathes, and straightening presses—while maintaining high-quality standards and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Unload steel trucks and place materials into storage racks.
- Operate saws, annealers, straightening presses, lathes, and other machinery.
- Inspect finished products and ensure adherence to tolerance specifications.
- Interpret and apply machining principles and adjustments (e.g., helix angles, lead error).
- Participate in lean initiatives and suggest process improvements.
- Collaborate with schedulers and product control to meet production goals.
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and cleanliness standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues.
- Train new operators as needed.
- Ensure minimal scrap and rework as defined by production standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant machine operation experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on technical skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand basic product and tooling setups.
- Familiarity with feeds, speeds, and gearing terminology.
- Minimal supervision required; self-motivated and dependable.
- Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer intermittently.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
