Job Description

The job of an Assembler requires a range of knowledge and skills across each station of the product line. Skilled assemblers putting together machines read schematics and blueprints that show how to assemble the machine. After determining how parts should connect, they use hand or power tools to trim, shim, cut, and make other adjustments to fit components together. Once the parts are properly aligned, they connect them with bolts and screws, or other means to mate the pieces together. Quality control is important throughout the assembly process, so assemblers look for faulty components and mistakes in the assembly process. They help fix problems before defective products are made. In this job, you will work in a manufacturing environment, continuously working manually, hand tools, or small power tools. After an initial training period, productivity and quality requirements must be met. Durations of setups and run times will vary. Tasks require a fair degree of eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.
