Position is located in Connersville, IN
JOB OBJECTIVE: Incumbent acts as a liason between the youth (ages 17 to 24) in the regional community and the WorkOne Centers in the development and promotion of paid and unpaid internship opportunities that are offered. Young Adult Career Advisor works with young adults, group leaders, local ministers and WorkOne Center staff to identify internship possibilities, keeps track of workplace resources for area youth, coordinates systems of communication and is responsible for data collection concerning internship placement.
These functions define the parameters of this position. Some functions may not be implemented based upon current operating conditions.
Identifies the needs of young adults in the community
Identifies resources in the community for internship opportunities
Assists with the development of community events to educate the youth in the 17 to 24 age range of WorkOne internship opportunities
Establishes ongoing partnerships with youth group leaders, local ministers, etc. To strengthen youth knowledge and community involvement in internship programs
Assists in the development of community events to educate the young adults regarding programs available through WorkOne
Makes all related materials available to youth and young adults, group leaders and local ministers, etc.
Sets schedule for meetings and presentations
Coordinates and carries out informative meetings regarding internship programs
Works with the WorkOne Centers to familiarize themselves with the paid and unpaid internship programs available
Collects, analyzes and reports all required data needs for the youth and WorkOne center
Partners with WorkOne Center staff where applicable
Identifies all data needs
Develops a system for data collection and gathers/maintains all relevant data
Participates in community with area youth organizations and community organizations
Participate in recruitment events
Prepares required reports for WorkOne Center
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor s degree in Sociology, or related field, preferred but not necessary
Must possess valid driver s license and automobile insurance
Knowledge of regional community
Ability to effectively present information to public groups and staff
