- Compensation is from 52,499 USD to 62,129 USD per year + $1 shift premium
Job Duties
- Check shop orders for job information
- Compare blueprints with shop orders
- Set up machines according to print specifications
- Write programs to print specifications
- Calibrate tools
- Read blueprints
- Use various measuring methods and equipment
- Responsible for general maintenance on machine and work area
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, etc.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
Background Profile
- High School Diploma/GED
- Machine Trade School Graduate or Journeyman's License (Preferred)
- Must have at least 5 years’ toolroom experience
- Must know and be able to use trigonometry;
- Must be able to read complicated drawings
Must have the ability to do difficult set-ups and operation of a wide variety of work involving considerable high degree of ingenuity
and judgment
Must be able to read blueprints
Must be proficient in operating all available machine tools, capable of performing all bench work with knowledge of plating and heat treating
Must be knowledgeable with CNC lathes, manual lathes, CNC mills and manual mills.
