Short-Term Human Resources Manager

Local manufacturing facility in South Whitley, IN is looking for a short-term Human Resources Manager! The position will last approximately 18 weeks, and will start January 8, 2018.

Compensation
  • $15/hr

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  •   Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  •   Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
  •   Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, 401K, short term disability, long term disability, FMLA, and leave of absence.
  • Assist in the implementation of company safety and health programs. Monitors the tracking of OSHA-related data. 
  • Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.
  • Identifies and monitors the organization s culture so that is supports the attainment of the company s goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Assist the accountant with payroll functions as needed.
  • Maintains and updates the employee list, phone list, and organizational chart.
  • Plan and organize all company events and charity events including: company picnic, hot dog roast, wellness screening, Christmas parties, Christmas giving tree, United Way campaign, wellness activities, etc.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by CEO.

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee development.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.
  • Excellent organizational management skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR TRAINING:
  • A bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Communications
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources. Experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
