Job Title: Temporary 1st Shift Material Handler/Forklift
Location: South Bend
Position Type: Temporary/hire
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5:00am – 1:30pm
Hourly Rate: $18/hour
Description: We are currently seeking a temporary employee for our 1st shift operations. The ideal candidates will have experience with metal. This position offers the opportunity for temporary-to-permanent employment for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklift equipment in accordance with safety protocols and company standards.
- Perform tasks related to material handling, including unloading incoming materials and verifying corresponding paperwork.
- Distribute materials to appropriate areas within the facility.
- Accept, unload, and verify shipments, documenting items in shipment by recording identifying information.
- Maintain receiving materials by checking stock to determine inventory levels and anticipate needed materials.
- Ensure complete and undamaged shipments, filing claims and following up on incomplete/damaged shipments as necessary.
- Maintain relationships with shipping carriers and equipment/supply vendors.
- Relay receivers, packing slips, and fulfillment details to accounting, and enter received/inventory items into the database for record keeping.
- Monitor and maintain inventory control of materials to meet stated objectives, including taking monthly inventory and cycle counts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 75 lbs. on an infrequent basis.
- Knowledge of inventory procedures and processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math skills including, but not limited to: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division.
