As a leader in the staffing and recruiting, Pro Resources Staffing is dedicated to connecting great employees with great companies. The staffing office in Fort Wayne, IN currently seeks qualified Machinist / Setup Operator to work at a local client facility.

This is a 3rd shift position however training will be held on 1st shift for approximately 3 months. The option to move back to 1st is based on seniority and what machines someone is trained to operate. First shift hours are Monday- Friday 7: 30am- 4: 00pm with a 30min lunch; third shift is Monday- Friday (starts Sunday night) 11: 00pm- 7: 30am with a 30min lunch.

Summary: Responsible for the efficient production of quality machined components meeting all production requirements. The Operator will operate mills and lathes and grind parts to close tolerances. Having prior mills and lathe experience is highly preferred as well as the ability to hold tight tolerances, read and write decimals and, read micrometers is absolutely required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Loads raw castings and other parts into a computer controlled machine center for processing.



    • Pass a general machinist knowledge test and measurement test.



    • Knowledge of proper use and care of inspection equipment, (I.E.: micrometers, calipers, indicators, plug and ring gages.)



    • Removes parts de-burrs them, and completes a check of critical dimensions upon completion of the machine cycle.



    • Records time and materials used in a prompt and accurate manner.



    • Recognizes and change dull tooling.



    • Makes appropriate work offsets.



    • Works with extremely close tolerances



    • Ability to perform setups following work documented procedures.



    • Completes quality parts within established rate guidelines.



    • Records scrap materials using established procedures.



    • Consults with Supervision, Level 2 and Level 3 Machinists to identify quality problems and resolve production issues when needed.



    • Interacts with Production Manager, Supervisors, QC personnel and others in a respectful and responsible manner.



    • Judges the quality of the product that they complete.





Requirements / Skills:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)



    • Able to understand industrial drawings



    • Understands mechanical systems



    • Common Hand tools



    • Die grinders



    • Precision measuring instruments



    • Can complete calculation of angles and understands principles of Geometry.



    • Understands multiple axis adjustment of CNC machine centers



    • Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50-70 pounds



    • Capable of standing/walking more than 80% of work time. 100% of working time (except for assigned breaks) is spent on the production floor.
