Pro Resources is assisting a locally owned comapny who's been in business since 1921. They are seeking a recent graduate or motivated individual to learn a trade as a creative designer and pre-press and digital press operator. They provide on the job training.
This is a full time position (40+ hours / week), temp to hire with great benefits upon direct hire. The working environment is clean and professional manufacturing environment with flexible hours and occasional over-time.
Individuals desiring to work in the digital wide-format and screen printing industry should have a variety of skills that make them well-suited for the job. Clear vision, correct color perception and hand-eye coordination are crucial. Employees must also be willing to handle the chemicals used in printing ink. Since digital and screen printing is considered a skilled trade job, it is best suited for people who enjoy detailed practical manual work. Other important traits include self-motivation, problem solving skills, creativity, organizational skills and ideally knowledge of digital and screen printing equipment.
Understands printing job requirements by studying job specifications; assessing requirements for digital and screen printing; organizing job sequence; retrieving/ordering required ink and paper; inspecting files and screens;
Sets-up digital printing presses by loading stock and adjusting for size; setting feed board, side guides, register board, and delivery mechanism; mounting and setting printing screens; adjusting pressures and tensions; loading and setting inking mechanisms; setting computer controls
Establishes printing quality by pulling proof copies; adjusting ink distribution, speed, and drying temperatures.
Maintains production and quality by inspecting random production samples; loading material; adjusting settings and controls; correcting jams and tears.
Minimizes downtime by troubleshooting stoppages and breakdowns; calling for maintenance assistance.
Shuts-down printing presses by removing ink and material; cleaning parts and components; returning materials and ink to stock.
Ensures press operation by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Monitors press supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating supplies requirements; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Mat assist bindery requirements by operating cutters, collators, banders, staplers, drills, etc.
High School Diploma or GED, AS or BS degree from a College, Technical College, or pursuing a Degree in art, print, or similar field is preferred.
Detailed knowledge of creating and amending digital file in In-Design and Photoshop and other similar pre-press formats for printing. Must have excellent vision and good judgment of color, design, and print quality. Required skills would be desktop publishing tools, functional and technical skills, command skills, planning, productivity, results driven, deadline-oriented, MAC & PC proficiency.
